Appointed in the Gothic Revival and Arts and Crafts styles, the Lady Maxwell Room is open to guests as a bed and breakfast all year-round. Breakfast is included in the rate and is served in the Library. We are proud to serve a Scottish breakfast cooked from both locally sources and homemade goods.
For bed and breakfast booking, booking directly with Buittle Castle's B&B guest services is recommended. For availability, rates, and all other accommodation enquiries, please contact us.
The Lady Maxwell Room is integrated into the rich history of Buittle Castle, and is named after Lady Maxwell (pictured below-right in William-Adolphe Bouguereau's 1890 portrait), a descendent of the medieval resident of Buittle Castle, Lady Devorguilla of Galloway. Lady Maxwell was a great supporter of the Arts and Crafts movement and aided in the founding of the National Trust for Scotland.
