Buittle Castle has seen many of the landmarks of Scottish History, and is, today, a well preserved and vibrant family-owned and run venue for short stays, exclusive use, fine dining, and all manner of other exciting things. The castle has survived the Scottish Wars of Independence, the Reformation, Jacobitism, and near demolition during the farming period. It is now lived in by descendants of the original families who built and made Buittle great, and is being lovingly restored and revitalised with respect to its medieval occupants, and its long history since Uchtred of Galloway fortified the site in stone 850 years ago.
